Your Minnesota Vikings are facing the end of the Mike Zimmer era. The loss to the Detroit Lions solidified that fact, and barring a miracle finish to the 2021 season, the team will be welcoming some changes. For the miracle however, it will have to start with a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday night in US Bank Stadium. First, the In The Huddle group including Eric Eager, Myles Gorham, and Jayson Brown will talk about it.
On tonight's show…
Agenda:
- Who’s to blame?
- What to expect moving forward
- Why are they like this?
- How can they turn it around?/Can they turn it around?

It’s Monday and fans of the Minnesota Vikings are in a mood. After a dreadful loss to the previously winless Detroit Lions, things look bleak for our favorite franchise. The Vikings lost agin yesterday 29-27 on the last play after a slow start, comeback due to the Lions being the Lions, then let them score one last time as the clock runs out. It is time to call out the good things like Justin Jefferson having a big game. Up next will be another struggling team this season. The Pittsburgh Steelers come to town for a Thursday night showdown. A good thing about the game is that those that love purple get to see the Vikes in their Prime Time Purple. Another good thing, and maybe the best big thing, is that the knowledge of at least head coach Mike Zimmer will be released soon, even if that is at the end of the season. Since we hope to lighten your Mondays, we’ll start the next coach search and are interested in your thoughts.
Deshawn, and Dave will be here with you to talk about just that, and to turn your Monday Purple!
Other talking points for tonight’s show:
Quick review of the loss on Sunday.
Counting our blessings:
Justin Jefferson
Brian O’Niell
Christian Darrisaw
The Wilfs
The Facilities
The Pittsburgh Steelers
Looking at offensive minded head coach prospects
QBC Mike Kafka - Chiefs
OC Josh McDaniels - Pats
OC Mike McDaniels - 49ers
OC Joe Brady - Panthers [fired]
OC Byron Leftwich - Bucs
OC Eric Bieniemy - Chiefs

Your Minnesota Vikings stay on the road, this time matching up with the Detroit Lions in their color rush silver uniforms. The Vikes are looking to get back to .500 once again and keep their hopes to slide into the playoffs alive. Will they? Nope. The Lions are looking to get their first win. Will they? Yes, they did. The beloved Purple are short some very key players, especially on defense. Eric Kendricks is out, along with Camryn Bynum who backs up the safety spot and comes in for dime situations. There is also Patrick Peterson who’s been on Covid IR. He could possibly, theoretically return with a second negative test. Will he? Nope. Then if the questionable of Anthony Barr and Mackensie Alexander don’t actually play, stopping even the Lions could be tough. Barr was out, but Mac was in. Over on the offensive side, the team will miss RB Dalvin Cook and LT Christian Darrisaw. Obviously Alexander Mattison will take over as the primary runner, and hopefully Kene Nwangwu will be spelling him. The only problem there is that Kene is questionable with an illness. He played. Are you looking forward to seeing what Nwangwu can do from the backfield? We at Climbing The Pocket sure are. With Darrisaw out, the Vikings are up to there shenanigans again, shuffling the O-line. They moved Oli Udoh from RG to LT, Garrett Bradbury will resume his starting role at center, and Mason Cole will slid to RG. How will that go? Meh. It could go extremely well or horrifically bad. What was your guess? We will all find out with you going live in the final two minutes of the game with The Final Score.

Your Minnesota Vikings are visiting the Detroit Lions looking to get back to .500 and stay in the playoff race. They feel that they can get a string of wins as the schedule looks to get a little easier. Will they? We all know how this team loves to keep it close playing up to or down to their opponents. There have been many times this season that they could have easily won, but seem not to by being unable to put a full game of complimentary football together. It could be the offense going ultra-conservative, the defense being unable to get a stop, or even tackle at times, to missed kicks. Even if all that goes right, then bum time management and bad challenges pop their heads up. Will this be the game the Vikes pull it together?
Dave and Darren who both started blogging on the Purple decades ago will go over a way to possibly see how this game will go and if the Vikings can win, so get ready for the Climbing The Pocket and Daily Norseman pregame show!
Here are the themes for the show:
We'll go over the usual stats to start - strengths and weaknesses of each team.
Theme #1 The LOLOLions ...
Who do you fear on this team? Jared Goff? Charles Harris? DeAndre Swift? (Oops! He's not playing)
Theme #2 - No Cook, no problem?
So, Alexander Mattison will get to be the starter again.
Theme #3 - Disastrous Defense
It's looking like 2020 all over again.

Mike and Ed discuss the not so disappointing loss to the 49ers, the playoff status, and what the Detroit Lions game could actually reveal about the Minnesota Vikings.
Loss to 49er’s likely takes the Vikings out of the NFC North race
Hold some wildcard tie breakers
Possibly a frisky wildcard team
Cousins worst game of the year
Exceptionally poor Run Defense
Positives
Aggressive Zimmer
Kick Return success
What Detroit game can tell us
If we struggle, serious doubts going forward
If we maintain offensive aggression, could set the tone for the remainder of the season
Need minimum 4-2 in the final 6 games to be in the wildcard race

The Minnesota Vikings are looking to get to .500 again, again. This time the Vikings have a chance to get there against the 0-10-1 Detroit Lions in their place. The Vikes are 7 points favorites but there are still issues on top of 9 of 10 games coming down to one score. Will this one?
Football continues! Your favorite team has started its 2021 campaign, the no excuses season. It is time to go further than any other Vikings team before it. Can they? Flip and Eric are here for the 22nd episode of Viking Hot Takes on the Climbing The Pocket channel on Thursday night during half-time of the game. Following the usual format of the show, we put the usual 20 minutes on the clock and asked each other three questions:
Flip asks
1. How many good players do the Vikings have?
2. What position would you spend a first round pick on?
3. Are the 2021 Lions as bad as the 2008 Lions?
Eric asks
1. What was the most disappointing part of the loss to the 49ers?
2. Which player do you want to see more of on Sunday against the Lions?
3. Would sneaking into the playoffs and losing in the first round be better or worse than missing them altogether?

The Minnesota Vikings suffer another one-score loss to a team that they could have beat. The San Francisco 49ers proved to be too much controlling the ball and time on the clock, especially after a Kirk Cousins quasi-meltdown in the second half. Can the Detroit Lions replicate the same results? Jared Goff is playing a little better, but he has some no-names to throw to. The Kitties do have a decent run game though, and that could target a Vikes’ weakness. With a depleted D-line, the part of the game that has suffered the most is defending the run game. The Vikings have some players that are in a questionable status as to whether they would play, like Patrick Peterson, Michael Pierce, and Dalvin Tomlinson. That doesn’t include those we know are out like Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen. On the offensive side, Dalvin Cook will be out so most of the load will go to Alexander Mattison. He will be sharing time with Kene Nwangwu. That will be exciting to see.
The unspoken concern comes down to Kirk Cousins. He turtled in the second half of last week’s game and reverted back to Captain Checkdown. Will he continue poor play or become aggressive again? On the good side of things, Cousins is from Michigan and tends to destroy the Lions when he plays there. Will he Sunday? …And you wonder why we enjoy our beverages so much? Another round bartender! LOL.

It’s Monday and fans of the Minnesota Vikings are getting so tired of the hard losses. The Vikings went to the left coast to play the San Francisco. At the end of the the day, one marked by bipolar play calls, injuries to Anthony Barr, Christian Darrisaw, and Dalvin Cook, the already depleted defensive line couldn’t stop the run, their quarterback, Kirk Cousins had a temper tantrum throwing, bad throwing, neglecting his weapons in the second half day. He wasn’t the only with bad decisions either. Mike Zimmer hoarded timeouts in the first half instead of using them to help the offense score. Even with all of the that, the Vikings went out to their 11th 7 point lead or better in this season. Of course, the defense gave up a score within the final 2 minutes of the first half too. All of these wrong doings and conflicting play calls, and the Vikings were still in the game. That was until Kirk, with the game on the line, tries moving Justin Jefferson and KJ Osborn for lining up wrong, and then lines up behind his right guard, Old Udoh. What could possibly be next?
Deshawn, and Dave will be here with you to talk about just that, and to turn your Monday Purple!
Other talking points for tonight’s show:
Offensive adjustments without Dalvin?
Udoh needs to be benched?
Inability to win with Cousins having a bad performances.
Are the injuries too much to overcome?
Inconstancies prove need for reset regardless of the seasons results.

Agonize with us! The Minnesota Vikings are on the road again. Two 5-5 teams battling to improve their playoff chances in Santa Clara. Your Minnesota Vikings take on the San Francisco 49ers to see with team will go above .500 and win their 6th game. Things don’t look well on the defensive side with D-Line anchors Everson Griffen and Dalvin Tomlinson out. The patched together replacements will face one of the heaviest running teams in the league. Will they hold up? Absolutely not. The 49ers had the biggest rush total of their season. Will Andre Patterson and Mike Zimmer scheme their butts off and figure out a way to shut down the run and force Jimmy Garoppolo to go to the air? Again no. Why would you do that when the running game was so effective? Can the Vikings’ offense stay aggressive and just plan on outscoring the good defense that the 49ers possess? Not when Kirk has one of his bad days with McNabb-like worm-burners, missing seeing open receivers, and skying the ball above receivers hands. Can the Vikes be the team that snatches that 6th win this week? Nope. Maybe next week to get back to .500 against the always plays us tough Detroit Lions. Join the crew right after the final 2:00 minute warning and react and vent together!
