As the Minnesota Vikings work towards the Saturday night lights game against the Indianapolis Colts, there are some areas of some concern to us fans. Are the special teams still a problem? This manifested against the Denver Broncos with poor punting from Britton Colquitt, and we all saw that. What wasn't as obvious was the lack of breaking down and tackling by the gunners and the rest of the team. Both distance and placement by Colquitt and early tackling by the players are key to a favorable field position. Since the last game was all basically the 2s and 3s playing, we had hoped to see these guys prove themselves as good depth pieces. Few did. Are you concerned about the depth? What a difference between practice and game time make for Jake Browning and Kellen Mond. Whichever one of those two wins the QB2 job, are you worried, especially if Kirk Cousins is out? Topic 1: Panic?! It was a preseason game and there has been some panic already by fans across the internet, but should there be? 31 players didn’t play including all of the starters on the offense and defense with the one exception of Stephen Weatherly and D.J. Wonnum. Maybe they were hoping one of those two would stand out? Both got a single pressure. This game can be viewed as the traditional 4th preseason game in the past with all the starters resting. Only difference is that the rest of the roster didn't have playing time in games 1-3 to work on getting their mistakes out and improving. Do you view it that way?
Topic 2: Jake Browning and Kellen Mond. Mike Zimmer wasn’t pleased to say the least. Browning didn’t look as well as he did in practice but still has the QB2 spot secured at the moment. Mond at least moved, but seemed slow speeding up to the NFL level. You might expect that from a rookie 3rd rounder, but that is not what was hoped for. What did you think? Was there any flashes from either that you liked?
Topic 3: Why is Dakota Dozier still on this team? The team will have to cut down to 85 players by Tuesday afternoon. Dozier should survive that first initial cut due to depth issues, but should he? He was in competition with Old Udoh for the right guard slot, so his play against the Broncos first team was more realistic than just about any other playing up to the competition level [Vikings 2s vs the Broncos 1s]. What does the team see in him that they re-signed him?

Topic 1: Justin Jefferson got hurt when Bashaud Breeland fell on him. It doesn’t seem devastating, thank Odin, but brings to light critical depth issues the Vikings and all teams have to deal with. He isn’t the only player hurt and not fully participating. Adam Thielen has a minor leg injury per reports, Anthony Barr has been out for something and Christian Darrisaw still hasn’t made it to full team drills. Mike Zimmer gets frustrated with injuries. Should he?
Topic 2: Controversy struck hard this week thanks to QB1 Kirk Cousins’ press conference. It went national in a hurry. His attitude on the topic seemed to be what rubbed fans a little raw, but did it for his teammates and how will it effect the Vikings over the course of the season?
Topic 3: The Vikings will host their first preseason game on Saturday in US Bank Stadium vs the Broncos. What do you expect to see? The preseason has been shortened to only 3 games, so what will the formula for playing the starters look like? Darren and Dave are selecting 3 topics, coming out of this last week of the Minnesota Vikings training camp. Topic 1: Justin Jefferson got hurt when Bashaud Breeland fell on him. It doesn’t seem devastating, thank Odin, but brings to light critical depth issues the Vikings and all teams have to deal with. He isn’t the only player hurt and not fully participating. Adam Thielen has a minor leg injury per reports, Anthony Barr has been out for something and Christian Darrisaw still hasn’t made it to full team drills. Mike Zimmer gets frustrated with injuries. Should he? Topic 2: Controversy struck hard this week thanks to QB1 Kirk Cousins’ press conference. It went national in a hurry. His attitude on the topic seemed to be what rubbed fans a little raw, but did it for his teammates and how will it effect the Vikings over the course of the season? Topic 3: The Vikings will host their first preseason game on Saturday in US Bank Stadium vs the Broncos. What do you expect to see?
