The Minnesota Vikings have now won their first game against the Seattle Seahawks in a packed US Bank Stadium. Will things get easier for them? Heck no! They will now face one of the team’s favorite coaches who developed in Minnesota for 14 years, Kevin Stefanski, and his very, very good Cleveland Browns. Baker Mayfield is quite the capable quarterback and with weapons like Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, Odell Beckham Jr and some complimentary players behind the 2nd ranked [by DVOA] offensive line, the Vikings defense will be tested once again. Mayfield may not be joystick-type mobile like the last 2 QBs the Vikes faced, but he can move and be dangerous. The defense will be tested. The Vikings’ offense is no slouch either, and the combination of Kirk Cousins’ outstanding play and Klint Kubiak getting more comfortable calling good and modern games, will have to continue in their growth and success for the Vikings to win. Can they? Dave and Darren who both started blogging on the Purple decades ago will go over a way to possibly start a winning streak, so get ready for the Climbing The Pocket and Daily Norman pregame show!
Talking points for the Browns-Vikings preview show:
1) Vikings’ front seven has to slow down Browns’ two-headed RB monster - Chubb and Hunt. Chips?
2) Vikings O-line needs to play competently against Browns front seven and have a game plan to block Myles Garrett.
3) Cousins needs to continue to play error-free football but also push the ball down the field and Kubiak needs to be less predictable when he calls for running plays and be less conservative in the red zone in the second half (we want TDs, not field goals).

The Cleveland Browns come to town. Kevin Stefanski brings his very talented squad into US Bank this Sunday after years on the Vikings staff, he now gets to hear the fans chant against him. After defeating the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, your Minnesota Vikings are now preparing probably for their toughest matchup of the young season. On tonights show, Matt and Ryan will be hosting Browns super fan Travis J Davidson to tip a few, talk about football and maybe even some hamburgers. Hamburgers? Yep, what the Vikings’ defense hopes to turn the Baker Mayfield offense into. They’ll have the task made harder though with the two-headed running back attack of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, and Odell Beckham Jr attacking the edges.

What a difference a week makes. The Minnesota Vikings have just came off their first win, soundly defeating the Seattle Seahawks. After in game and halftime adjustments, the Vikes took over the game on both sides of the ball. The offense created long sustained drives and in the second half the defense held Russell Wilson and crew to zero points. Kirk Cousins exuded leadership on the field that we had not seen from him in previous seasons. He had another outstanding performance along with the O-Line giving him protection like not seen in his time in Minnesota. JJ started off busy catching passes and Adam Thielen catching touchdowns. The Justin Jefferson Griddy was seen in front of live fans for the first time, and Alexander Mattison was an absolute force in place of Dalvin Cook. It was a good day!
Speaking of leaning into a quarterback, the episode art was inspired by that from Kirk Cousins back to Fran Tarkenton. Come join the conversation with the guys as they discuss the Vikings, these topics, and more. SKOL!
On tonight's show…
Agenda:
How good is this team?
How good can they be?
Leaning into the Kirk
Looking forward what concerns issues do we see holding this team back?
A quick look forward to the Cleveland Browns

It is victory Monday and turning it purple will be a lot easier for Tyler and Deshawn. Your Minnesota Vikings, with some outstanding play from the offense, wring the necks of the Seattle Seahawks 30-17. Kirk Cousins played “the best game” per Mike Zimmer. It may not have been statistics-wise, it definitely showed on the leadership level and even taking off script plays and turning them into successes. The ball was spread around to multiple Vikings weapons. Alexander Mattison had a great day starting for an injured Dalvin Cook with a 170+ yard performance and over 100 on the ground. Justin Jefferson got to do the Griddy in front of fans for the first time. Adam Thielen is the definition of red zone clutch. The offensive line continued to improve as a unit. Greg Joseph was dead on on all 6 kicks. The offense and special teams were humming. The defense to a while to get going though. Bashaud Breeland was exposed again and again, but there were adjustments made during the game and at halftime and the D ended up shutting the Seahawks down. They even met the Mendoza line of holding Russell Wilson and his offense to 17 points.
It was a good day. Join us for the conversation!
Other talking points for tonight’s show:
- Kirktember
- Spreading the ball around
- Klint is great
- Mike Zimmer’s stubbornness is costing this team
- The field goal call to go up 13
- Offensive line Klint’s biggest advantage
- Kirk’s best start to a season in his career
- Zimmer’s elite defensive adjustments
- Edge 2 becoming a problem
- Players of the week

The Vikings are 0-2 going into today. Their backs are against the wall and the winning needs to start! They did just that. Mike Zimmer led his team out for the home opener. US Bank Stadium was loud and rocking’! The SKOL Chant rained down, and I wonder if we heard chants for Odin, like from the Purple of old? Kirk Cousins continued his good, down right outstanding, play. Did the defense feast? No, but they did make adjustments that kept Seattle from scoring in the second half. All this as the Minnesota Vikings faced off against the Seattle Seahawks. These games count, and we’re live at the last whistle. The Final Score crew and you the fans will discuss it here!

The Minnesota Vikings have now lost 2 games in a row by a total of 4 points. People say it was because of just two plays. Do you believe that? If you win on a lot more plays, these two aren’t necessary. It is however for health of the Vikings’ season that they grab victory against the Seattle Seahawks. This has been a team that has beaten Mike Zimmer’s Vikings every time they have played. Will this game be any different? This will be the first time the Seahawks have taken on the Vikings at US Bank Stadium. The stadium, packed full of fans chanting Odin, and SKOL, will make a difference. They should have the Seahawks offensive linemen false starting. The Vikings defense which has yet to jell in two games, can now feed off the fans making noise, cheering, and down right amped up energy that flows within that glorious bowl and ETFE roof. Russell Wilson is getting older, but may be wiser and can still hurt you. He has two wide receivers in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett that the purple secondary will have to shut down. A hard task when Bashaud Breeland hasn’t lived up to expectations. Will we see Cameron Dantzler eventually take over? The “Meaty Boys” on the defensive line should have a better day, but Wilson can still run. Can they contain him? Then can the Vikes’ offense continue to cook? Kirk Cousins has been playing well and a legitimate WR3 has been found in KJ Osborn. Can the running game get going, and set up more play-action? Dalvin Cook is recovering from an ankle injury and hasn’t practiced all week. We might see more of Alexander Mattison as a result. The big question though is can the Vikings get the win and beat the Seahawks?
On list topics:
1) Chris Carson - who has averaged 4.6 yards per carry against us.
2) Russell Wilson and his career stats against the Vikings.
3) Conerbacks D.J. Reed and Tre Flowers.
4) What kind of performance will Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen and KJ ‘Ozzy’ Osborn need to have a day against those guys?
5) Vikings corners Bashaud Breeland, Patrick Peterson, and Mackensie Alexander expectations. If they don't play better Sunday it's going to be another frustrating day for us Viking fans because someone needs to cover DJ Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
