GMG’s Two Old Bloggers - Is Kubiak the answer? Will Reiff survive?
Click here for our latest episode!
Welcome to your Minnesota Vikings talk amongst Two Old Bloggers. Klint Kubiak has been officially named the Vikings Offensive Coordinator for the the 2021 season. Gary’s kid now takes over the offense with what Mike Zimmer wanted, continuity. There is an argument to made for that and things not changing a whole from Kevin Stefanski, Gary Kubiak and now Klint running the same offensive scheme. The same verbiage helps, the knowing of the play book already can open even further adjustments and innovations versus learning all of that new from scratch. People wanted a young innovative mind and maybe Klint will be it. Will Mike let him be? We’ll find out. There are those also worried about his experience [sometimes the same people as above] but like the innovation, it will be successful or not and there are plenty of examples around the league of both. Cap casualty or not, Riley Rieff? Darren and I want to look at whether the Vikings plan on moving on from Reiff, or he from them. Last season, he was told to renegotiate and take a pay cut at the last minute or be cut. Part of that was to free up money to go get Yannick Ngakoue. It was what seemed to be ruthless and didn’t foster any good will, especially after Ngakoue was traded soon afterwards. In a make up move this last week, the Vikings went to Reiff with another renegotiation, this time to give him an extra $1 million he would have likely earned if it had not been for Covid. Is that enough to smooth things over? If it is, will the Vikings keep him anyways? Join us and let’s talk about it! Fan with us!!!
