The Minnesota Vikings have started their OTA schedule and the veteran players arrived earlier in the week. How was the team looking this early? Is there a competition at center or is the team rolling with Garret Bradbury? Is Bradbury a bust or the answers at center? First, however, it is time to answer viewer questions about the team. Darren and Dave are in a question answering mood. Dave and Darren will then get into part 3 of who will be a breakout player this season. Lynch showed heart and flashed on occasion when he was on the edge. Will he stop up and cement a spot on the roster? Will he play more snaps from the edge or move into the DE position around the 5T position? The guys will make the case that he is about to breakout. The Minnesota Vikings have their 2022-23 schedule now in print, so let’s look at it a little more in-depth and see who challenges our favorite team. The NFL Schedule makers look to be up to their old tricks again. However, on the bright side, they did move the week 5 bye at the request of the Vikings to week 7. Thanks for the lollipop guys, but where did you shaft the team? December? January? You know they did. Kevin O'Connell and Ed Donatell will have their hands full with some of the quarterbacks the team will face and when. However, at least it wasn’t last year’s lineup except for Aaron Rodgers, Kyler Murray, and Jared Goff. Darren is worried about the backup quarterback situation. Should he be? Should you? Kirk Cousins “never gets hurt” right? Sean Mannion should be a sideline coach, but the money is better as a player. What about 2021 3rd round pick, Kellen Mond. Is he as bad as Mike Zimmer thought he was, or may Kevin O’Connell coach him into a valuable player that could actually win games? It’s a great question, at least for the fans to know better what the team has, isn't it? Dave and Darren will then get into part 3 of who will be a breakout player this season. Cam Dantzler would get Mike Zimmer's hook quickly last season, but was it the right move? It surely looks not to be the case. Mike Zimmer was fired and now Ed Donatell will have to figure out who his best corners are, and if Tiny Dantzler is one of them. Your Minnesota Vikings have made it through days 1 and 2 of the draft. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has made a batch of cupcakes for 2 out of 3 of his neighbors. He traded with the Detroit Lions on day 1, and the Green Bay Packers on day 2, and the question today is will he continue with his generosity and trade with the Chicago Bears in round 3. It is a unique approach that most fans are scratching their heads over. Day 3 is traditionally where the team looks to draft prospects with the ability to make the team as a backup/role player. Needs to be a special teams contributor at applicable positions. Players in the high range of this category might have long-term potential. This is also where surprise hits can be found if lucky, so let’s hope so, especially with the positive karma moves made by Kwesi in the first two days. Team needs that still need to be addressed in no particular order are WR, TE, IDL, and probably another CB. Beyond that, it is looking for more depth and special team’ers. Day one of the draft is in the books and it was wild! Your Minnesota Vikings traded down from pick 12 with the division nemesis Detroit Lions. They moved from pick 12 all the way down to the 32nd pick. Lewis Cine was selected and is going to be a very capable safety/all-purpose tool for the Vikings in the future. That trade though with a division rival and moving up 10 spots in the 2nd and getting an early 3rd, is a real head-scratcher and didn’t make sense value-wise compared to what the rest of the league was doing. There was a rumor that other GMs would try to screw over Kwesi Adofo-Mensah on any trades, and that certainly appears to be what happened. Entering day 2, the Vikings now have 3 picks. They have the second one at position #34 in the second round, then two more picks in the 3rd round, #66 and #77.
