The Minnesota Vikings have completed preseason games against the Las Vegas Raiders and last Saturday at home against the San Francisco 49ers. They have lost both, not that it matters much, but it is an opportunity for players to shine and make the team. On this Two Old Bloggers🎙, the Minnesota Vikings played the San Francisco 49ers last night and even though it mainly the 2’s and 3’s squaring up, it wasn’t what Vikings fans had hoped for in the only home game of the preseason. It was a real snoozer of a game that saw backward steps in the progress of Kellen Mond as a QB2. Sean Mannion was pure Mannion and now the biggest question of the game is if the Vikings bring in some other quarterback to backup Kirk Cousins? There were some good performances though from the backups with T.Y. McGill earning the top spot on the night. He was dominate being disruptive at nose tackle, racking up more pressures, sacks, and run stops. He makes talk of D-line depth seem solved. Barring the Vikings signing Ndamukong Suh, he should round out the defensive tackle room just fine. Flip and Eric on Viking Hot Takes are back! A few battles are being fought at Minnesota Vikings Training Camp for starting positions and even to make the team. Players are on the clock with the Vikings' first preseason game away against the Las Vegas Raiders just a few days away. Why are they on the clock? The first roster cuts come next Tuesday. They have until then to increase their standings and chances of making the team, as at least 5 players will be released. Hey all! Vikings Happy Hour is back and we’re stoked that our first preseason game is just around the corner, but first… Craig Peters, the senior editor for Vikings dot com wrote and published the first unofficial depth chart of the 2022 season. Most of the depth chart isn’t surprising, but there was a word used in an odd and unusual way. There were two positions with a capitalized “OR”. The first one was at quarterback, “Kellen Mond OR Sean Mannion” and at wide receiver, “Trishton Jackson OR Jalen Nailor”. Is this a cut line? Has the team signaled that they are only keeping 2 quarterbacks? Is Jackson ahead of Nailor when Nailor was the draftee? Interesting isn’t it? The Minnesota Vikings will travel to play the Las Vegas Raiders. We don’t know how much the starters will play, or at least key ones like Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson. We do know, however, that rookies such as Andrew Booth Jr. and Brian Asamoah will get a sizable chunk of reps. Are they and the other rookies ready for the spotlight?
