Darren and Dave are select 3 topics from this last week and leading into the season. The Vikings seem awfully heavy with “stars and scrubs” as the saying goes. Backups when needed will be tested. Depth on the defense is better going into the season, but as we all saw with Irv Smith Jr. getting a meniscus injury and being out for at least the regular season, depth on the offensive side of the ball is a little scary. There was a trade for TE Chris Herdon from the New York Jets. QB Jake Browning was waived but after being told he’ll still be the QB2 from the practice squad if he makes it through waivers. RB Kene Nwangwu made the 53 but will go on IR for a minimum of 3 weeks. Migraine inducing Dra Samia and Dakota Dozier have been released. Your Minnesota Vikings flew down to play the Kansas City Chiefs in the final preseason tune-up for the season. Andy Reid has already the Chiefs ones will play the first half. He is obviously treating this as the traditional 3rd game of the preseason when there were 4. Mike Zimmer said he will play most of his starters too, but more like last week. Veterans like Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison, Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen will be out however, limiting the offensive weapons Kirk Cousins will get to play with.The KC defense has shined in their previous two games and this will definitely be a test for the newly assembled offensive line. Can Rashad Hill redeem himself after giving up a sack last week? Will the interior of the O-Line continue to improve with Ezra Cleveland, Garrett Bradbury, and Old Udoh?
