Welcome to your Minnesota Vikings talk amongst Two Old Bloggers. Today we are discussing how the Vikings coaching staff is coming together. There was an announcement this last week that the Vikings hired Keenam McCardell as their new wide receivers coach. This will put into motion a musical chairs version of the offensive staff. Since Gary Kubiak retired, that opens the position for the offensive coordinator spot to be taken internally by his son Klint Kubiak, or Rick Dennison, or from an exterior source not yet named. Presently Ryan Janko is the coach of the wide receivers, but he looks to move to fill either the spot as QB coach [Klint’s current spot] if Klint gets the OC job, or back to O-line coach position if Dennison does. With the Vikings not re-upping Marwan Maalouf's contract as special teams coordinator, they have promoted from within Ryan Ficken. He is a young coach that is been with the Vikings since 2007 in various capacities. Defensive backs coach Duronte Jones has moved on to LSU, so there's a spot open there as well. Mike Zimmer also let go of last year's strength coach and has hired Josh Hignst from the Eagles to replace him. These are even more spots that could be impactful in the 2021 season if these and others are the correct choices. We will also be looking at the Bill Barnwell trade proposal that he outlined to have Deshaun Watson make it to the Vikings as their QB1. What will you think of this? Fan with us!!!
